Born on 27th July 1958 in the town of Miłomłyn.
In 1986 graduated from the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn. In 1994 completed post-graduate studies in territorial self-government at the University of Warsaw. Doctor of biological sciences.
Between 1984 and 1990 – teacher at the elementary school in Liw.
Between 1990 and 1998 served as Miłomłyn Commune governor; between 1998 and 2001 – mayor of the town and commune of Miłomłyn.
Chairman of the Assembly of Communes of Kanał Ostródzko-Elbląski and Pojezierze Iławskie. Member of the Polish Hunting Association. Chairman of the patronage council at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and member of the consultative council of public representatives at the Faculty of Environmental Management and Agriculture of the university.
In the Fourth Term Sejm was member of the European Union Affairs Committee and Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. In the Fifth Term Sejm – member of the European Union Affairs Committee and the Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry Committee. In the Seventh Term Senate was member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, Environment Committee and European Union Affairs Committee; also was the Secretary of the Senate.
Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland. Member of its national council and member of the board of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Section of Civic Platform.
Married, has three children.
