Jolanta Piotrowska

Member of the Eleventh Term Senate.

 

Born on 17 May 1961 in Wydminy.

She graduated from the University of Gdańsk (major: economic cybernetics and computer science) and completed postgraduate full-time studies in journalism at the University of Warsaw.

From 1990 to 2002, she ran a business in publishing and printing. She was a co-founder of local newspapers in the Mazury region, including “Gazeta Giżycka”, where she served as editor-in-chief.

From 2002 to 2014, she was mayor of Giżycko. From 2018 to 2023, she held the mandate of a councillor of the Assembly (Sejmik) of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship and sat on its Board.

She was a co-founder of the nationwide Women’s Local Government Forum. On behalf of the Association of Polish Cities, she participated in the creation of the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in the Local Environment. From 2015 to 2018, she served as President of the Board of the Foundation for the Protection of the Great Masurian Lakes. From 2015 to 2019, she sat on the Elderly Affairs Committee of the Ombudsman. She is the winner of the “Women of Success of Warmia and Mazury 2005” plebiscite.
