Ryszard Brejza

Member of the Third Term Sejm.

 

Born on 13 March 1958 in Inowrocław.

In 1981, he graduated in history from the Faculty of Humanities at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He completed postgraduate studies in administration.

He worked as a teacher at Primary School No. 2 in Inowrocław (1981–1985), Medical School Complex in Inowrocław (1985–1990, deputy headmaster since 1988), 3rd General Secondary School in Inowrocław (2001–2002). From 1990 to 1997, he was an inspector at the Board of Education in Bydgoszcz.

In the Third Term Sejm, he chaired the standing subcommittee on regional policy.

In the period from 1990 to 1998, he was a councillor in the Inowrocław Town Council. From 1992 to 1998, he chaired the Assembly (Sejmik) of the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship. From 2002 to 2023, a Mayor of Inowrocław.

He was an activist of the Independent Students’ Association and NSZZ “Solidarność”. He was a member of the Council for State Regional Policy at the Prime Minister’s Office (2000–2004), the Team for Political System Affairs of the Joint Commission of the Government and Local Self-Government, the Supreme Employment Council, the Regional Operational Programme Monitoring Committee, the Regional Council for the Protection of Monuments at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Conservator of Monuments. He is a member of the Board of the Association of Polish Cities.

He was awarded, among others: Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Cross of Freedom and Solidarity, honorary badge of “Anti-communist opposition activist or person repressed for political reasons”, honorary badge of “Meritorious Cultural Activist”, “Pro Memoria” medal.

Non-partisan.
