List of Senators

Senator of the 10th and 11th term Senate.

Deputy to the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th term Sejm.

Member of the 8th term European Parliament.

Born on 13 November 1958 in Kalisz.

In 1997, he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

In the 1980s, he was a member of the Solidarity. During martial law, he was interned in December 1981. He was detained in the Wronki prison, and then from January to July 1982, interned at Gębarzewo. In 1989, he helped set up civic committees.

He was a sportsman and sports official, a multiple medal winner in shooting and defence sports, and President of the Sokół Szamocin sports club. He ran his own business and was, among other roles, the owner of the Wielkopolska Agencja PHiU “HELPER”.

In 1990-1998, he was a Councillor of the Szamocin Town and Commune Council, and later the Town Mayor.

He headed the Government Anti-Crisis Committee and was a member of the Council of Tourism affiliated with the Minister for Economy, and of the Labour Protection Council. From 2007 to 2009, he held the post of the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, being the author of the anti-bureaucratic and pro-economy “Szejnfeld Package”.

In 1997-2014, he was a Deputy to the Sejm. In the 3rd term Sejm, he was the Deputy Chair of the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Committee. In the 4th term Sejm, he was the Chair, and in the 5th term, the Deputy Chair of the Economy Committee, and also chaired the Tourism Promotion and Development Subcommittee. In the 6th term Sejm, he was the Deputy Chair and then the Chair of the “Friendly State” special committee for curtailing bureaucracy.

In the 10th term Senate, he was the Deputy Chair of the National Economy and Innovation Committee.

He is a strong supporter of women rights and gender equality. He cooperates with, among others, the European Union of Women, and runs the kobiecastronazycia.pl portal. He is a poet, essayist and author of the “Time Capsule” book.

He served as the Deputy President of the Assembly of Village Heads and Mayors of the Piła Region and the Wielkopolskie Centre for Education and Local-Self Government Studies Association in Poznań. He sits on the Consultation Board of the Polish Chamber of Electronic Communication (PIKE) and the Programme Council of the EuroPOWER Energy Conference. He is a member of, among others, the Euro-Atlantic Association, the Chancellery of the “Poland Now” competition organised by the “Poland Now” Polish Promotional Emblem Foundation, the Chancellery of the Cent For Future and Pearls of Polish Economy programmes organised by of the “Polish Market” magazine, as well as the Chancellery of the “Fair Play” programme organised by of the Research Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy. He is a Honorary President of the VKS Joker volleyball club.

He has been decorated with the Honorary Badge for Meritorious Service to Development of Economy of the Republic of Poland. He is a winner of journalist rankings for the best Sejm deputy and the “Bona Lex” award for the best statute of the year. He has repeatedly come first in the “Man of the Year of Northern Wielkopolska” competition organised by journalists. He is a honorary citizen of Szamocin town and commune.

Member of the Civic Platform party. Sits on the National Board and is the Deputy Chair of the party’s Wielkopolska Regional Board.
