She was born on 10 May 1951 in Wałbrzych.
In 1975, she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Wrocław Medical University. She obtained a first-degree specialisation in paediatrics in 1979 and a second-degree specialisation in 1982. She also obtained specialisation in paediatric haematology and oncology (2002), palliative care (2004), clinical transplantology (2004) and clinical immunology (2004). In 1979, she obtained a PhD in Medical Science and received a post-doctoral degree in 1994. She obtained the title of associate professor in 1999, and the title of full professor in 2003. Since 1975 she has been associated as a doctor and lecturer with the Wrocław Medical University. She worked at the Clinic of General Paediatrics and the Clinic of Marrow Transplantation, Paediatric Oncology and Haematology (formerly the Clinic of Paediatric Haematology and Proliferative Child Diseases). Since 2000, she has been the Head of the Clinic of Marrow Transplantation, Paediatric Oncology and Haematology ‘Cape of Hope’ in Wrocław.
She is the President of the Polish Paediatric Society and member of the Main Board of the Polish Oncology Society and of the Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Society. She sits on the boards of the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy in Wrocław and the Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion in Warsaw. She is a member of the boards of several foundations helping sick children.
In the 8 th term Senate, she was the Deputy Chairperson of the Health Committee.
She has no political party affiliation.
