Born on 23rd January 1958 in Olsztyn.

In 1982 graduated from the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw, and the College of Scientific and Technical Photography at the Faculty of Biology at the same university. In 2002 the Institute of National Remembrance granted him the status of an “injured party”. In 2007 he completed a postgraduate course in property management at Kozminski University in Warsaw.

Between 1982 and 1984 he worked as a teacher at the Ruy Barbosa Secondary School in Warsaw. Journalist and a writer. Author of dozen or so books and more than 1500 press publications. From 1984 until 1990 he was a journalist in “Fotografia” quarterly, and in the period of 1990–2010 he worked in Telewizja Polska (Polish State TV Broadcaster), where he created or participated in the creation of 150 programmes. He is a licensed property agent.

2002–2006 he was a member of the Council of the Capital City of Warsaw and the chairman of the council (2004–2005).

From 1993 to 1995 he held a seat on the Council for Media and Communication under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Poland, and since 2005 to 2007 he held the position of a judge in the State Tribunal of the Republic of Poland. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Trusteeship Council of the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

In the Third Term Sejm he was the chairman of the Culture and Media Committee. He has also worked in the Family Committee. In the Eighth Term Senate was a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, the Culture and Media Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Married, has six daughters.
