He was born on 26 September 1955 in Zawoja.
In 1981, he graduated from the Faculty of Metallurgy of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
From 1982 to 1983, he worked as a process engineer in the FSM Small Car Factory in Bielsko-Biała. From 1984 to 1990, he was a teacher at the Mechanical School Complex in Sucha Beskidzka.
Between 1990 and 1998, he was a Councillor of the Zawoja Municipality Council and serving at the same time as the Voit of this municipality. In the years 1998-2011, he was a Councillor of the Sucha Beskidzka Poviat Council, and from 1999 to 2011, he served as the Staroste of this Poviat.
In the 9 th term Senate, he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Local Government and State Administration Committee.
