He was born on 23 August 1954 in Lubawa.
He graduated from the Gdańsk University of Technology, where he obtained his Master’s degree in engineering at the Faculty of Electronics. He completed (without the title) studies in physics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In 2000, he completed post-graduate studies in enterprise finance and capital market at the Higher School of Management and Marketing in Warsaw.
He worked as a publisher and pressman. From 1983 to 1987, he was a constructor in the Radio and Television Factory ‘Zarat’ in Toruń. Between 1988 and 1989, he worked as an electronic engineer at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. In the years 1991-1995, he was adistribution manager in the publishing house Wydawnictwo Editions Spotkania in Warsaw. From 1995 to 1996, he worked as a warehouseman in the publishing house Wydawnictwo Krupski i Spółka in Warsaw. In 1998-2001, he was a manager of the Department of Publishing and Printing in the Support Centre of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Since 1977, he cooperated with the Committee for Social Self-Defence KOR, the Student Solidarity Committee in Gdańsk, and distributed independent publications. In 1978, he co-organised the Free Trade Unions of the Coast, printed first issues of the independent magazines ‘Robotnik Wybrzeża’ and ‘Głos’. From 1979 to 1980, in Gdańsk, he organised lectures of the Towarzystwo Kursów Naukowych (Society for Scientific Courses).
In 1981, he was the Head of the Social Culture Centre of NSZZ ‘Solidarność’ in Gdańsk. From 1983 until 1988, he co-organised the printing and distribution of the underground ‘Kwadrat’ Publishing House in Toruń. He is the co-founder of the Political Thought Club in Toruń.
He was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit, the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity and the Honorary Badge for ‘Activist of anti-communist opposition or politically repressed person’.
Member of the Civic Platform party of Poland.
