She was born on 19 May 1957 in Opole.
She graduated from the Higher School of Engineering in Opole (currently Opole University of Technology), with the professional title of Civil Engineer. She also completed a Bachelor of Business and Administration degree at the Wisconsin University.
Until 1991, she ran her own business. In the years 1992-1993, she founded and coordinated the Polish American Enterprise Club at the Opole Centre of Local Democracy. Between 1993 and 1995, she acted as Secretary for the Supervisory Board of the Polish Radio Opole. In 1999, she was the Head of the Regional Development Department in the Office of the Voivode of Opolskie Voivodship, and until 2003, served as the Director of the European Integration Department in the Marshal Office of Opolskie
Voivodship. She then worked as the Head of the European Affairs and Development Planning Department in the Opole City Office.
In the years 2005-2009, she was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Head of the Polish Delegation and Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In the European Parliament of the 7 th and 8 th term, she was the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of Employment and Social Affairs.
