She was born on 26 January 1951 in Ząbki.
In 1975, she graduated from the Faculty of Sanitary and Water Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. Then, in 1994, she completed post-graduate studies at the Centre for Studies in Local Government and Development at the University of Warsaw.
From 1976 to 1986, she worked as a designer for the company Biuro Projektów Szkół Wyższych. Subsequently, from 1986, she worked in the General Directorate for Hydrotechnical Construction and Energetic Pipelines ‘Energopol’. From 1990 to 1994, she was the Head of the Environmental Protection Department at the District Office for Żoliborz Municipality, and from 1994, she served as the Director of the Environmental Protection Department in Warszawa Centrum Municipality.
In the period 2002–2009, she was the Investment Director at the Voivodeship Environment Protection and Water Management Fund.
From 1990 to 2002, she was a Councillor of the Warsaw City Council. In 2009, she was elected to the European Parliament of the 7 th term.
She is the Chairperson of the Association of Alumni of the Faculty of Sanitary and Water Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. She also serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the Association of Alumni and Friends of Warsaw University of Technology.
In 2000, she received a diploma of the Ministry of Treasury for members of supervisory boards in state-owned companies.
Member of the Civic Platform party of Poland. She is a member of the National Council of this party.
