On 27th-28th February 2014 the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Bogdan Borusewicz took part in the 11th Meeting of the Presidents of Parliaments of the Visegrad Group in Budapest.

The meeting was attended by the President of the National Assembly of Hungary László Kövér (the host), President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jan Hamáček, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch, Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Ewa Kopacz, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Bogdan Borusewicz and Vice-President of the Slovak National Council Renáta Zmajkovicova.

The meeting in Budapest was devoted to discussion on four topics: 1) The development of a new framework for V4 parliamentary cooperation, 2) Joint representation of our interests in the EU, with special regard to the inter-parliamentary conferences within the EU, 3) The role of V4 parliamentary cooperation in supporting the Eastern Partnership and 4) Situation in Ukraine.

Two final documents were adopted at the end of the meeting: 1) Joint Statement (in connection with: - the development of a new framework for parliamentary cooperation in the V4, - the joint representation of interests within the EU, - the role assumed by the cooperation of the V4 parliaments in supporting the Eastern Partnership) and 2) Joint Statement on (the situation in) Ukraine.

On the initiative of the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch the Speakers signed a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Shwe Mann, with words of support for his reform efforts.

A press conference was held after the meeting.

During his stay in Budapest Marshal B. Borusewicz participated in a meeting at the Polish Institute on "Polish - Hungarian Solidarity in 1956 , 1980, 1989", organized in a series of  "Lessons of history of freedom"; he also visited the Terror Háza (House of Terror), the museum-memorial to the victims of totalitarianism and the heroes of the revolution in 1956 in Hungary.
