Zbigniew Cichoń

Born on 21st December 1952 in Częstochowa.
Graduated in administration from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow in 1975 and in law from the same faculty a year later. Completed his legal specialisation internships by obtaining judge and solicitor
qualifications in 1979. Obtained his lawyer qualifications at the District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Cracow in 1982.
1982−1893 – a lawyer at the Lawyers’ Chamber no. 1 in Cracow. Has run his own lawyer’s office since 1993.
Was a defending counsel in political processes during the martial law period and an advisor to the Solidarity Trade Union. Completed an internship in American law offices engaged in human rights protection and in the Polish American  Congress. He was granted scholarships by the Council of Europe and Chicago DePaul University.
Deputy chairman of the Human Rights Committee attached to the District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Cracow. Has represented victims as a lawyer before the European Court of Human Rights since 1997. Elected a judge of the Tribunal of  State twice (1997–2001, 2005−2007).
1990–1994 – a member of the Wieliczka Town Council and a member of the municipal board.
Co-founder and current chairman of the Catholic Families Association of the Archdioce se of Cracow. Deputy chairman of the Catholic Lawyers’ Association. A pro publico bono advisor in charity counselling centres (“Pomoc Bliźniemu” of St. Clement Parish in Wieliczka and “Poradnia Miłosierdzia” of the Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Łagiewniki).
His publication record includes publications on human rights both in Poland and abroad (France and Ukraine).
Member of the Human Rights, Rule of Law and Petitions Committee and the Legislation Committee in the Seventh Term Senate.
Has no political party affiliation.
Married, has two children.
