Member of the Seventh Term Senate

Born on 30th November 1961 in Namysłów.
In 1985 graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at Silesian University in Katowice. In 1992 obtained the degree of doctor of chemistry and in 2007 became doctor habilitated in the Humanities.
Worked as research associate (1983–1987) and assistant professor (1992–1999) in the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at Silesian University in Katowice. Between 1987 and 1992 worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences Polymer Chemistry Centre in Zabrze. Between 1998 and 2001 was deputy rector and acting rector of "Cardinal August Hlond" Upper Silesian Higher School of Pedagogy in Mysłowice, between 2001 and 2005 served as its rector, lectured and conducted seminars. Director in charge of organization and development (1998–2005) and head of the Environmental Protection Institute (1999–2005) of the Silesian College of Economics and Administration in Bytom. Since 2005 works at "Wojciech Korfanty" Katowice School of Economics, where serves as deputy dean of the Department of Tourism and Health Promotion and head of the Pedagogy Faculty (since 2011 – associate professor). Since 2005 – lecturer at the Higher School of Labour Protection Management in Katowice and since 2009 – associate professor at its Department of Environmental Engineering and Hygiene at Work.
Was scientific editor of "Środowisko i Rozwój" quarterly in Bytom, member of the scientific board of "Nauczyciel i Szkoła" quarterly, and member of the programming board of "Problemy Ekologii" bimonthly in Mysłowice and scientific magazine "Społeczeństwo i Edukacja – Międzynarodowe Studia Humanistyczne". Initiated and organized (2000–2005) the "Silesian Environmental Protection Seminar" national scientific conference held annually in Bytom. Co-organiser of the cyclical conference on waste management "Szukamy Rady na Odpady".
Author of many dozens scientific articles and several books.
Since 2011, member of the Narodowa Rada Ekologiczna (National Ecological Council). Chairman of the scientific council of Ecological Education Academy. Member of the Polish Chemical Society and Upper Silesian Society of Friends of the Sciences. Co-founder of the Bytom Association of Conservatives and Liberals and of the Association of Former Members of the Independent Association of Students of 1980.
In the Seventh Term Senate was member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, Environment Committee, National Defence Committee and Science, Education and Sports Committee.
Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland and member of its Silesian regional board.
Married, has four children.
