Born on 9th March 1941 in Bukowina Tatrzańska.
He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the Jagiellonian University in 1970. In 1974 received a PhD degree in chemistry, and in 1978 – the doctor habilitated degree. In 1983 he was promoted to associate professor, and in 1993 he was granted the title of professor.
Between 1964 and 1966 he worked as a laboratory technician at the Jagiellonian University. From 1974 to 2011 was a lecturer at this university. He was the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry three times, and has also been a vice-rector for research and science. At the same time he worked at other universities: Michigan State University in USA (1981–1983), AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow (1991–1996) and Świętokrzyska Academy of Education in Kielce (1998–2002). Since 2001 he has been a lecturer at the Podhale State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Targ. He is the rector of this school.
He wrote more than 300 publications and research works on crystallography, as well as physics and chemistry of solids. His publications include also works on Polish Highlanders dialect and proverbs (“Słownik gwary górali skalnego Podhala”, “Podhalańskie porzykadła i pogworki”, “Dumacki czyli myśli po góralsku dane”, “Podhalańców myśli wyszukane”).
He is a member of numerous national and foreign organizations and research associations. He is the chairman of Podhalańskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk (Podhale Friends of Science Society) and of scientific board of Związek Podhalan (Polish Highlanders Alliance). He is an active member of Fundacja na rzecz Rozwoju Urologii (Foundation for the Development of Urology), “Szlachetne Zdrowie” Foundation (Noble Health Foundation), the Polish Crystallographic Association and the Polish Society for Crystal Growth, the “Wspólnota Polska” Association, the Polish Hunting Association and the Knights of Columbus Association. He also holds the title of the Captain of Highland Brigands.
